                   At the end of Year 4

 Students will mostly be able to:
Instantly answer subtraction facts within 10 
eg: 7-?=3     6-?=2 
 

Answer questions about the number of 10s in a 3 digit number
eg: there are 37 tens in 370


Answer questions about the number of 100s in centuries and multiples of 1000
eg: there are 70 hundreds in 7000.

Instantly answer addition questions about multiples of 100 that make 1000 eg: 300+?=700


Round numbers to the nearest 10 or 100
eg: the nearest 10 to 37 is? (40)


Order fractions with the same denominator eg:
Put these fractions in order from smallest to largest 9/10   2/10   5/10
(2/10, 5/10, 9/10)


Identify symbols for improper fractions eg:
5/4 says five quarters      7/3 says seven thirds


Describe objects in terms of symmetry eg:
The letter S has half turn symmetry (when turned half the way round it fits on its original shape.
The letter B has one point of reflective symmetry (in a mirror the reflection of the top matches the actual shape of the bottom).


Compare objects using equivalent units
eg: 2004 grams is heavier than 2 kilograms 
eg: 1 meter is less than 141 centimeters 
eg: 45 millimeters is more than 3 centimeters
eg: 909 meters is 91 meters less than a kilometer
eg: 1 hour and ten minutes is fifteen minutes longer than 55 minutes
